Celebrating Birthday Parties At Home

During times like this it is crucial to get creative, despite having to stay home. Just because we cannot go out and party does not mean that birthdays and other life milestones should be cancelled. Even though we cannot physically be with friends and family, it is still possible to create a meaningful moment for someone’s big day.

Here are a few tips for planning a birthday party during quarantine:

Party on Zoom

With the help of modern technology, we are able to see and talk to friends and family no matter how great the distance is. If you are planning a birthday party for someone be sure to invite all their friends and family. Send out an e-vite with all the details like the date and time. You should also include instructions on how to access the Zoom call so that everyone can get there with no issues. Friends and family can sing happy birthday and send presents. If possible, ask friends and family to send gifts.

Bake A Cake

If you can’t run out to your local grocery store for a professional birthday cake, make one yourself! The cake doesn’t have to be extravagant, you can use a box cake or bake one from scratch!Check out this simple yellow cake recipe here!

Decorate

Having a birthday party at home can feel unusual, but with the help of festive decorations it can truly bring the party to life. Use streamers, banners, balloons, and more to really make this day special.

Drive-By Party

This has become an increasingly popular way to celebrate birthdays since the start of the quarantine. For this “party” the guests drive past the birthday girl’s or boy’s house with balloons, posters, and other birthday decorations. This is a simple way to show that despite the current restrictions, a birthday can still be special. If you will be organizing a birthday drive by, be sure to coordinate with everyone who will be attending so that it can start at the same time.

Hire Their Favorite Character

If you are hosting a birthday for a child or someone who enjoys costume characters, why not hire their favorite person. With Total Entertainment’s costume character rental you can hire a professional actor to come down your street and wish your loved one a happy birthday. If you don’t want to hire an actor, you can rent the suit yourself and wear it yourself!

Get Neighbors Involved

During these times many neighborhoods and communities have banded together to give each other support. Try reaching out to some of your neighbors via email or use the Nextdoor app. Ask them if they will put up happy birthday signs or balloons. There may not be an overwhelming response, but one note or birthday balloon can really make a difference.

Go Outside

As long as you are taking the proper precautions, it is totally fine to go for a walk or jog and enjoy some fresh air. Take the birthday girl or boy outside to get some sun. This is simple, but sunlight is important for our overall health so it’s a great way to show that you care. If you were able to get any of your neighbors to participate, this is a good time to show off the birthday signs they made!
